Close Inspections
A close inspection is an external examination of the apparatus and its enclosures. Includes any equipment and cabling associated with the installation. These activities can be performed on live equipment.
This inspection method is a more detailed visual inspection looking at smaller and finer detail that cannot be seen from a distant viewpoint.
Some moving of shrouds, covers and screwed parts may be needed, as long as they do not affect the operation of the apparatus.
Checks would be done to ensure the correct certification for glands and stopping plugs have been fitted.
Checks would be done to ensure for mechanical security of fixings, glands and labelling.
Other items that would be looked for would be the start of minor damage, erosion and corrosion around the enclosures and their supports, loose cable gland nuts on cable entries into equipment, checks for the correct labelling on enclosures - especially Exi equipment.
